Arsenal of Democracy Chapter Annual Breakfast Meeting

Breakfast Date and Location: The Arsenal of Democracy Chapter, Association of the United States Army will hold its annual Breakfast Meeting on Thursday, 27 April 2017, 0730-1000 hours at the Macomb Community College (MCC), John Lewis Center, Building K, room K301, 14500 E. 12 Mile Road, Warren, MI 48088. The Breakfast Meeting is held in conjunction with the Michigan National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) Chapter’s Michigan Defense Exposition (MDEX) event held at the adjacent Sports & Expo Center, Building P.

Guest Speaker: Our guest speaker is Lieutenant General (Ret) Guy Swan III. LTG Swan currently serves as an AUSA Vice President. During more than 35 years of active service he commanded at every level through Army Service Component Command. A career armor/cavalry officer, his general officer assignments included Commanding General, United States Army North/Fifth Army; Commanding General, United States Army Military District of Washington and Commander, Joint Force Headquarters-National Capital Region; Commanding General, 7th Army Training Command, United States Army Europe/Seventh Army; Chief of Staff and Director of Operations, Multi-National Force-Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom; Director of Operations, United States Northern Command; and Chief of Army Legislative Liaison. General Swan’s other key assignments included Commander, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment; Assistant Deputy Director for Strategy and Policy for the Joint Staff; and Deputy Operations Officer for the 1st Armored Division during Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm.

A 1976 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, General Swan holds a Master of Military Art and Science degree from the United States Army’s School of Advanced Military Studies. He also holds a Master of Arts degree in National Security Studies from Georgetown University and was a National Security Fellow at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

General Swan is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Aspen Institute Homeland Security Group, and the FEMA National Advisory Council. He is also a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) and a Certified Protection Professional (CPP), board certified in security management.

Registration: Registration is made through the AUSA Arsenal of Democracy Website link thru Constant Contact. All reservations must be made by 20 April 2017. Ticket Prices: Breakfast ticket prices are $25.00 per person and $45.00 per person for non-AUSA members who wish to join AUSA, and receive a two year membership ($40.00 for membership dues and $5.00 for the breakfast).

Advanced Payment: All payments must be made in advance. Payment can be made by credit card through the website link, or by check payable to AUSA/Arsenal of Democracy Chapter. Mail checks to Mike Bracket, 44260 Cadburry Drive, Clinton Township, MI, 48038.

Breakfast Check-in: Check-in and name-tag pick up will begin at 0730 at the Registration Table located at the front of the hall entrance. Breakfast will open at 0800 with a buffet of scrambled eggs, hash browns, a breakfast meat and fresh fruit bowl, accompanied by bagels; served with orange juice, freshly brewed regular and decaffeinated coffee, and assorted herbal and gourmet teas.

Name Tag: Attendees are issued a name-tag at check in. Your name tag will serve as the breakfast ticket. Non-AUSA members who chose to join AUSA are asked to complete their AUSA membership form at the New Member table, and then pick up their name tag.

 

Reserved Tables: Tables may be reserved for groups of eight. Indicate your desire on the registration form. All tables are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis, and will be assigned from front to back in the order that the reservation and payment were received.

Event Parking: Parking is available at parking lots 4, 5, 7 and 8 adjacent to the John Lewis Center.

Dress: Dress is business for civilians, and uniform of the day for military.
